The human papillomavirus, the treatment of which we consider in this publication, is a very common disease. There are more carriers of this virus than people who do not have HPV. To date, several methods of treating this disease have been developed. They are conventionally divided into two groups: conservative and destructive treatments.
Unfortunately, to this day it is not possible to completely destroy the human papillomavirus. The means and methods of modern medicine can only stop the development of the virus, remove the papillomas that have appeared and prevent the exacerbation of the disease, which leads to the formation of new papillomas.
The human papilloma virus that has settled in the body remains in it for life. When the immune system is weakened, it is activated, which leads to neoplasms on the skin.
Treatment of the human papillomavirus using conservative methods
Conservative treatment for HPV consists of a series of measures aimed at strengthening the body's immune system and suppressing the development of the virus. In some cases, this is sufficient and the use of surgical methods is not required.
Important:a positive result can only be achieved if treatment is prescribed by a specialist. Self-medication is not possible in this case. The doctor's task is to conduct a medical examination of the patient with the further appointment of an individual course of therapy.
Usually, interferon-based drugs are prescribed to treat human papillomavirus. This substance, which suppresses the development of viruses, is produced in sufficient quantities by a healthy body. However, with a weakened immunity, it is necessary to increase the concentration of this substance in the blood. The drug is absorbed into the bloodstream and begins to affect the body.
As part of the treatment of papillomas using conservative methods, the administration of certain antiviral drugs is also indicated in some cases.
In a number of cases, the use of special creams, gels and sprays has been shown to destroy the virus in local tissues. Under certain conditions, their use leads to necrosis of the tissues affected by the virus, which makes it possible to dispense with destructive methods of treatment.
Treatment of the human papillomavirus with destructive methods
Destructive treatments aim to directly destroy the tissue infected by the virus. These methods can be roughly divided into two groups: chemical, physical.
Chemical methods of treating papillomas involve the removal of virus-infected tissues using chemicals. Today, several groups of drugs have been developed to remove papillomas in different areas.
There are several physical methods of removing papillomas. The most common methods are electrocoagulation, cryodestruction, radiosurgery, laser therapy.
With electrocoagulation, papillomas are removed with high-frequency electricity. This method has been used for a long time and has proven to be very effective. But it also has disadvantages. At first, these are painful sensations after the operation that last for a long time.
Cryodestruction, also a widely used method of treating papillomas, is less of a discomfort for the patient. The method is based on freezing the affected tissue with liquid nitrogen. Ulcers caused by cryodestruction heal within one to two weeks. At the same time, no traces remain on the skin.
This method is used exclusively to remove skin papillomas. If it is necessary to remove papillomas on the cervix, this method is not used in this case, due to its ineffectiveness.
The most optimal method for treating human papillomas in terms of effectiveness, freedom from pain and duration of the postoperative phase is the laser removal of papillomas. The method is based on the use of a surgical laser.
The peculiarity of the method is that immediately after removing the affected tissue, the laser seals the blood vessels, which prevents bleeding. This method does not cause complications or scars. The duration of the recovery phase is one month.
There is another modern method of removing papillomas - radiosurgery. This method is based on the use of special equipment that cuts off damaged tissue by exposing it to high-frequency radio waves.
Despite the successful use of the modern methods described above in medicine, surgical removal of papillomas is still widely used. This is perhaps the most painful method, requiring a long post-operative period. However, in a number of cases the application of this particular method is shown. For example, surgical removal of papillomas in the cervix is used in oncology.
Recovery phase
Regardless of the method used to remove papillomas, there are a few measures to follow after the operation. Drinking abundantly is shown as well as adherence to a frugal diet.
In addition, extensive measures are required to reduce the concentration of the papillomavirus in the body. As a rule, for this purpose, the administration of drugs that strengthen the immune system is prescribed.
Remember that removing papillomas on the skin or mucous membranes will not eliminate the presence of this virus in the body. To avoid the formation of new papillomas, it is necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle and see a doctor regularly.
